Help

When i ordered my dell he asked what software i wanted and i said Works suite 2003 becuase i thought thats where you get word, powerpoint and excel. When i got it thats not what i got so i found out the program i wanted was called office 2003. Can i send this works back and trade it in for office 2003? Would i have to pay for it?

If it's less than 30 days (since the shipping date) you MAY be able to call Dell and get it swapped.

But hurry! I made the same bubu as you a few years back, fubugirl. Had to buy the upgrade version. I was not happy. Was heard muttering some pretty vile stuff about Dell, Bill and the world in general. I am sure Works Suite is nice for somebody. It is just not very practical for even a halfway serious user. There oughta be a law!

Sounds cheap. If you qualify for the upgrade that is the way to go. Same software, but different price. Check to see which Office package you are getting (Basic, Professional, etc.), since some products like Excel and Power Point are not necessarily included in each. The qualification is probably based on having Word or some other MS product, maybe even another Word Processor. Maybe even having had Works on your system might be enough. MS is pretty strict. They want their money. That is the nice part of a monopoly!

fubugirl,

The cheapest edition of Office is the Office and Student Edition, at $149 but the eligibility requirements are quite severe, see this.

Upgrade versions are the same as regular versions except that they require that you already have a qualifying product (see this for Office Small Business Edition).
