How to change default on envelopes
My default when typing envelopes is for custom size and the font is to small. Each envelope I must change this. How can I change the default for font and envelope size? Thank you.

But in Word 2003, press alt T E E (or go there via the toolbar)
Select Envelope tab
Click Options button
Select Custom Envelope Size and set accordingly. Once it's set, it shouldn't change unless you do it manually.
Now click Delivery Address Font button
Select whichever font and size you prefer from the 2 lists
Click Default button in lower left hand corner
Answer "Yes" and chosen font/size will be set as default for delivery address.
Now do exactly the same for Return Address Font, if necessary.
Note, these changes do not affect the default font/size for the documents themselves, only for the envelopes.

Here's how to do it in Word 2003; the process is similar in Word 2000 and 2002 although the menus vary a bit. Open the styles menu (Format, Styles and Formatting) and look for a style called Envelope Address. If you don't see it go to the bottom of the Styles menu to the little window labeled Show and change the setting to All Styles. There are loads of default styles here. Look for Envelope Address and click on it to apply it to your document. (Note: Since you are concerned with fonts for the address, there is also a style for Envelope Return Address and it behaves the same way). Now right click on the Envelope Address Style in the styles menu and select Modify. Put a checkmark in Add to Template and then change the font to whatever you want. I suggest leaving the Update box unchecked or you may get a lot of unintended changes later on. Click OK and return to your blank document.
To get rid of the hundreds of default styles that may cause you no end of confusion return to the styles menu and change the Show setting to either Available Styles or Styles in Use. (All those styles will still be available, but out of sight) Close the document without saving it. You should get a prompt asking if you want to save your modifications to normal.dot (or any other template you started with). Click Yes. The next time you use the Tools, Letters & Mailing, Envelopes and Labels, Envelopes and enter an address from either the document itself, the keyboard or the Insert Address button (look for an icon that resembles a book in the window) your address should be in the font you chose.
The advantage with this method is that you can have different fonts and formatting for your envelopes based on your template. If you have a letter template for your business, for example, or even just want to use one of the Word letter templates, you can format your envelopes that can be totally different from, say, a personal letter template or even casual letters you want to produce using the Normal template. You can also use a special font (with spacing etc.) for the return address and your envelopes can have a professional pre-printed look.
Using styles you can control lots of other formatting in your documents, such as footnotes, headers, page numbering fonts and locations and the like. When these are modified and added to your template, they will be there every time you open that template again.
