Is MS Office 2000 compatible with Win XP?

I'm about to upgrade the Win 98 SE operating system on my old computer to XP Home Edition and have heard that I need to download a patch from the Microsoft Web site that will allow my MS Office Small Business 2000 to function with XP. I've looked on the MS site for such a patch but if there's one there, it's not apparent to me. Can anyone tell me if such a patch is necessary, and if so, where to get it? Thanks very much.

Using the Advanced Forum Search on the bottom of this page, you can quite easily find the answer to this often asked question.

1) Buy the UPGRADE edition of XP Home assuming you have your 98SE CD.

2) Do a CLEAN install of XP.  Boot to the XP CD, remove all partitions, make new one(s), format and install XP.  All done with the XP CD.  Directions via the Product Support tab above, then Reinstall Guides.  Make sure you download drivers FIRST or have another computer available, and run Windows Update over and over till none are left.

3) Install software including Office, updating it till none are left.

Park Hopper,

Office97 and later versions run fine on XP without patching.

Thanks very much for the response, Denny. I'll stop worrying about it.
