Locked 1st column in excel

I'm working on a spreadsheet in excel 2003 and the first column -- column A -- which contains some valuable information -- does not show on the screen, but it does print out when I print the worksheet, and it shows in preview mode.  The worksheet in not protected, is not locked, I have tried column unhide and worksheet unhide, but I cannot make it visible and therefore cannot work on it.  Does anyone have a solution?  Thanks

Does the letter A appear at the top of the column?

It does not, but I figured it out....for some reason the freeze pane feature, which I was using for rows, was knocking out column A.  When I unfroze the pane, A became visible, then I refroze the pane, and it stayed visible...a few hours of frustration....thanks for inquiring...problem solved....
