There are few important point I would like to share:
All the factory shipped software can be installed from My Dell Downloads. You can find the software such as Roxio, Webcam Central, Acrobat Reader etc. Please click here to follow the detailed onscreen instructions. My Dell Download works only on Internet Explorer. You may also refer the FAQs on My Dell Downloads.
Microsoft Office once lost cannot be re-installed from My Dell Downloads, as Dell does not retain any copy of it. However if one has the MPI Card with the product key, Microsoft Office can be downloaded from the Microsoft Site and activated with the product-key. Click Here to download the MS Office 2010. Once downloaded, Install it and enter the product key when prompted from the MPI card and get started with the MS Office full version.
Hey Thanks a ton Dell-Allan D. my harddrive crashed and I had to replaced the hard drive. but I was worried as to where shud I look for the Microsoft Office because Dell did not send me a disk but a card with the product key. But while googeling, I came across this thread and Voila!!!! All those things that I needed. not only MS Office but through Dell Downloads, I got back all the software which came with the pc.
I am flattered with the support I get from Dell. Dell support is everywhere. Thank you Dell. Thank you Allan! :)
Thank you for your help. The problem was fixed. I appreciate your assistance but I did not appreciative being charged $399.99 to Pcpatchers, a company apparently employed by Dell to re-install Windows 7. It rather makes the warranty a bit pointless. I shall reconsider before buying another Dell product.
If you did not purchase Microsoft Office 2010 with your system you would have Microsoft Office 2010 Starter preloaded. It only had basic functionality and is completely obsolete. Microsoft Office 2013 WebApps replaces it.

Hello, I just recently purchased my Dell XPS8700 and I'm trying to get backup copies of the pre installed software. I tried to go to "My Downloads" and when I tried to register my computer, it said this service contract is not supported.

Thanks for your reply , Allan. However on clicking on the link you suggest, a site comes up saying, "Group not found". Am I missing something?

The key you are entering is for Windows 7 and not Microsoft Office 2010.
If you opted to purchase Microsoft Office with your system you would have got a Microsoft Product Identity Card.
The 25 digit product key would reside on it and you can download the installer from here.
Unfortunately the MPI card is not attached to the system and can easily get misplaced which is why this idea was requested on IdeaStorm Microsoft Windows and Microsoft office Product Keys.
If you did not purchase Microsoft Office 2010 with your system you would have Microsoft Office 2010 Starter preloaded. It only had basic functionality and is completely obsolete. Microsoft Office 2013 WebApps replaces it.
