I had sent an email to the moduslink address that Dell provided regarding the Office Update offer, and got back today (Nov.22) the following reply. Based on this does anyone have any idea how we actually get this upgrade once we've bought a Dell computer ?

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your interest in the Upgrade Program.

Unfortunately, because you purchased the product through Dell you have to get the upgrade through them. We don't support Dell, they decided to do the upgrade themselves.

Regards,

Upgrade Redemption Center

Well you can upgrade from Nov. 28th i believe.

When you say "Well you can upgrade from Nov. 28th i believe." are you referring to MS Office 2007 Upgrade or to the Vista Upgrade ? I know that the Vista Upgrade started Nov.28, but I thought the Office Upgrade program had already started.

It did! I applied at the Moduslink web site (for the Office 2007 upgrade). For several days when I checked on my order it said in the "Order Status" box "Order Confirmed." I sent in the printout I got when I ordered it (Redemption Form) and a certified electronic copy of my receipt for the XPS 410 as instructed.

Now, when I check on the status of my order it says it is no longer in their system!!???????? I'm not sure what's going on here but I hope they are just passing the order "on" to be processed and fulfilled.

The form that was created at the end of the process looks like a receipt and has all of your information on it (name, address, billing address, confirmation number, product details, etc.). On the second page is where you send a copy of this form and an electronic certified copy of your Dell receipt for your new computer (shows you purchased Office 2003 with it).

Let's hope the person I talked with is correct in that the order is progressing through to fulfillment (whenever that is).

What printout when you ordered it ? I went through that order proces also but never saw anything about a redemption form.

I've been getting the same message about it not being in the system also whether I enter the Order # or the COA .

I believe I answered the question I originally asked. When I first signed up to receive the upgrade, they were apparently not set up to accommodate Dell yet, and I was using Mozilla Firefox. That last may have prevented the "redemption form" from appearing so i could print it. This time I used Internet Explorer 7 and made sure that the moduslink upgrade site was on the list of trusted sites just in case. This time the application went through OK and the redemption form that I needed to send in did appear. Also, the address to send the paper work to specifically says "Software Upgrade Program Dell Inc". However, apparently not everyone at this upgrade center is on the same page (where have we heard that before) because they're still telling me by email that they won't handle Dell's upgrade program. I wonder if they use the same people that Dell uses from a certain Asian country ?

Now the address says Software Update Program Dell Inc. Also, the 1st time I tried to sign up, it didn't even mention Dell as a computer manufacturer, your only choice was Other. Now the list is much longer and includes Dell specifically. Too bad they didn't just tell me at the beginning to come back later when they had their act together. That would have saved me a lot of grief and email messages.

That's weird; my address was:

Software Update Program
PO Box 1918
Orem, UT 84059-1918

No mention of Dell in the address.

I made application and initially it seemed to have been accepted.  Now when I check the process it says "COA validation failed".  Anyone else getting this message?

Used the COA from the Office Small Business Edition I paid for and was bundled with my XPS 410.

If you were successful what COA did you use the COA on your Office 2003 or your COA on your Windows XP ????   (I called moduslink and they said use the Windows XP COA because the Office 2003 COA was not being accepted). I think this may have been wrong as now Dell will not accept my Windows COA for the Vista upgrade. And the moduslink site for the Office 2007 upgrade say it is not verified. WHAT A MESS !!!!!!!! If anyone has successfully applied for both upgrades I would be very interested and indebted to you to learn how you did it. I have made about 16 phone calls to different Dell departments on how to do this without getting an answer. Just a runaround. Please help. Dell has to get much better with this.
