MS Office problem in Win10 - any clues?

Recently Office 2003 & 2016 changed in Win10.
Can anyone help with this?

Normally, open a Word file while another is open, and it comes to the front. But now, if I open a file, I have to manually switch Word files to see it - the previously open file remains in front.

So if file A is open, and I open file B, B remains hidden, until I manually bring A to the front onto the PC screen.

This isn't a corruption problem as it happens on all 5 PCs that I use, with Win10 and Office 2003 & 2016.

But they all worked fine 6 months ago - is this part of a Win10 update?

This is driving me crazy.

If there is any way to fix this problem, please let me know.

Word 2003 while not approved by MS for windows 10 runs mostly OK with all the win 10 updates. It does however have some glitches and maybe yours is one of them. Running all the components in Office 2003 is not a good idea. Word and Outlook are the only ones that seems to work OK for me. If you are in an office consider upgrading. I agree with you about liking 2003 version better but there could be other problems in the future. You can't have that happen in an office situation.

Go to Programs & Features (formerly Add/remove programs) right click on Office 2003 and choose repair. You might be asked for the install disk. Try it on one of the computers to see if that helps. Check out the MS Office forums for more help. answers.microsoft.com/.../msoffice

Thanks for your help.

I installed Office 2017 and it did the same thing!

So perhaps this is a Microsoft thing. But Office has been working this way for 10 years, why the change now?

Or perhaps this is something odd with my PCs...

I can't stand the new office, 2003, was so clean and simple, like a MAC.

I only run Word, which works a treat.

i have a similar problem with windows 7 using office 2010, it just shuts down again directly after i open it, any theories? thanks in advance.

Have you reinstalled Office?

Try doing a system restore or reinstall Win7.

Try doing a safe boot and see if Word does this - it may be a conflict.

My Office works great, but recently it has stopped working in Win10, it worked fine before - it just won't put the opened page up front.

Do not reinstall windows 7 to solve this. It is completely unrelated to Office. Just reinstall Office 2010 from your original disk. If you have the free starter version of Word and Excel 2010 that came with the computer without a disk, you will not be able to reinstall it since it has been discontinued. See this for more info--
