Office 2003 license

Hi,

When I recently ordered my new Dell Dimension (in the UK) I also got Office Small Business Edition 2003.  Because I was concerned whether I would be able to load the software on my other home computers, I purposely asked the sales assisstant whether I would be able to do so.  He confirmed to me over the phone that I would be able to use it on up to 3 of my computers.

Unfortunately, after installing the software on a second computer of mine, I was told that I had already activated it up to the limit of my Product Key.

I have since emailed the sales assisstant in question, but it appears he won't respond.  Please could someone advise what I can do?

OEM software can never be installed on more than one computer.  You should request that Dell take back the software and buy a retail copy which is good for multiple computers.  Office for Students and Teachers, at least in the US, can be installed on THREE computers.

Thanks for your speedy reply, Rick.

I have read that the student edition offers the 3 user license as you suggest, but I would ideally like to have Publisher as well.  While the other editions do include Publisher, I don't think that they can be used on 3 computers.

Anyhow, hopefully I will get some response from Dell regarding this issue as I feel I have been mislead.

Jon_UK,

A retail version of any of the Office suites can be installed one one desktop system and one laptop system. OEM versions are restricted to the computer with which they were sold and except for the Student Edition I don't believe any version can be installed on more than two systems as mentioned above.
