Outlook 2003 - Cannot copy back saved email folder

This my first time, hope someone can help,
This is on a Dimension 4600, 3+years old, which had increasing problems with the registry, or so I'm told.

I used the Outlook Backup routine to save 2 .pst email folders, before re-booting XP Home and re-installing M/S Office from M/S disks.
Import of one email folder back into Outlook worked OK, but other one blocked by asking for password I didn't set! After re-installing the Backup program, the import routine is now blocked by window saying "may not be compatible with this version of Outlook or may be corrupted"    Any ideas?

By the way, I'm now using approximately twice the space on the hard drive, up from 16GB to 29GB, Could it be that the re-boot did not overwrite the original? How can you tell, and should I be concerned?    Thanks.

When you say " re-booting XP Home", do you mean reinstalling XP? If that's what you did, it sounds like you just created a new partition with XP and didn't delete the old one, which could explain the increased disk usage...

If your system was shipped after July 14, 2004, you should have PC Restore on the hard drive (assuming you didn't delete that partition). It will reset the hard drive to exactly the way Dell shipped it. You have to back up personal files to CD first or they'll be lost, and you have to reinstall all Microsoft updates for XP, Office, IE, etc. Access PC Restore by pressing Ctrl-F11 before XP starts to load.

If you don't have PC Restore, read this for a good tutorial on reinstalling XP:
