Outlook 2003 recurrence problem

I have received a new Inspiron 9400 recently with Office 2003 pre-installed. I ordered Outlook with Business Contact Manager and I am having recurrence automatically attached everytime I update an appointment. The initial appt. works fine, but when I update the appt. the calendar will automatcally set the recurrence (weekly for 2 months). When I searched the Microsoft Forum I found several other people with exactly the same problem with their new Dell Computer and Outlook 2003. I suspect that Dell's version of Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager has a bug. I have another Dell laptop that I bought last year with Outlook 2003 (no contact manager) and it works fine. Are there any Dell users having this problem with their Outlook Calendar recurrence getting set automatically. I am setting the end date to the start date to get around this problem for now.

have found a solution on another forum and have tried this and it works: uninstall a program called "outlookaddinsetup" via the add /remove programs in control panel. i don't know what the program does but after uninstalling it, the recurrence problem is no more.  this apparently is already on the dell forum  - i found the answer by searching google with "Outlook 2003 recurrence problem" and came to   www.mcse.ms which had several users who had the problem.

Problem Resolved: I also removed outlookaddinsetup from Control Panel Add Remove Programs and Calender is working fine now. Note: needed to shutdown Yahoo: Messenger in order to remove program.

I did what you recommended, and it works! However, I got a new problem instead. When I double click on one appointment to change it a new, empty appointment is automatically created with the starting time the same as the one I had, and a duration for 30 min. Would you or anyone have any idea how to solve this?

tested my environment many times and do not experience your current problems. I do not beleive they are related. if the problem occurs everytime, then there may be another software problem. if the problem occurs occassionaly, it may be your mouse sensitivity, exspecially with the pads.

Thought they might be related, as I did not have the second problem (another empty eppointment being self created) before I made the suggested change to cure the first problem (i.e. the recurrence problem). Anyway I will try changing the mouse pad sensitivity and see if that helps. Thanks!
