outlook e-mail setup problem

Question

In setting up e-mail in outlook 2000 I was asked to insert the xp disk to get a file ('data1.msi' is the file I think it is looking for) and it was unable to find it.  My original xp disk has service pack 1 and service pack 2 was downloaded.  Any idea where I might find the needed file.  Thanks.

Are you sure it was the Windows XP operating system CD?  Outlook 2000 is NOT part of the Operating System but comes with MS Office 2000 and usually if it wants a file it wants it from the MS Office installation CD, not the Operating System.

I'd suggest running the Detect and Repair Tool (from the Help menu) and seeing if that can find it.
