Problem after Dell Support 3 Ugrade
When restarting my computer now, I am prompted to install software for new hardware described as SDDM12. I have not added any new hardware to my computer since its intial set-up.
Can anyone help with this? Thank you.

SDDM12 = Secure Digital Disk Media
Did you or someone else plug in a digital camera/memory card or
something like that? Next time it pops up, DON'T cancel it, if the installation software is not found, the OS will put in under non-identified items and popup should stop.

I get the same "New Hardware Found". I didn't install any new hardware. But, this is what I did update today. I updated to Dell Support 3. I did not uninstall 2. After I updated, I received a critical alert, (which I never received an alert at all before today....) This is what it sent me too. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS05-012.mspx After you install security update MS05-012, DBCS attachment file names are not displayed in Rich Text e-mail messages and you may receive a "Generic Host Process" error message. WindowsXP-KB894391-x86-ENU.exe I downloaded this and after saving to desktop and installing this, I get this found new hardware wizard and it wanted to install this SDDM12. It could not be found. I didn't insert my disk, because I figured if I didn't install any hardware, why would it ask for a disk. Plus, it never specified what disk to insert to search for this SDDM12. I am not sure what I did wrong or what. I don't know much about updating my Dell products. Not sure how to go about that. I do update all my other programs and occassionally receive updates thru Windows Updates from Dell. Anyway... just wanted some info on whether or not, I need to uninstall Support 3 and keep 2 or just un-install 3 and reinstall it or what? Any help would be appreciated. I hope I didn't confuse you too much with my rambling post.

SDDM stands for Secured Digital Disk Media. I had not installed anything either.
I was told to let the New Hardware Found Wizard run its course and Windows would put it in non-identified items and the pop-up would stop.
I went to Device Manager and found SDDM12 in the list and uninstalled it, which stopped the pop-up message. To get to Device Manager: from your desktop, right click on My Computer; select Properties; select Hardware Tab; select Device Manager. Then scroll down the list and right click on SDDM12 and select Uninstall.

I did as you suggested and uninstalled the SDDM12. The pop up stopped. I have not ran the Dell Support 3 as I am not sure if it will work correctly since it gave me the message that I had new hardware detected when I didn't install any. Should I go back to Support 2 or try and use 3? I want to make sure I get my updates from Dell, but I just find Support 3 real "iffy" since I upgraded to 3 and received that message.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I am having the same problems as thececils did. I was replying to their post instead of yours, (which I meant for my 2 previous post to be for you. ( I apologize to thececils for that mistake. But I thank you for your help. )
Could you read my 2 replies to their post that they had made to you. In this thread. I am unsure about whether or not to use Support 3 after I got the same hardware detected pop up when I upgraded to 3. When I didn't install any hardware. I did what they suggested to stop the pop up. I didn't let it finish installing since it never said what disk to put in for this hardware that was detected. I just clicked cancel. I did uninstall SDDM12 or rather disabled it until further notice. I want to get updates, just not sure if I should stay with Support 2 or run 3.
Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.
