Problem with Windows Vista
I have started getting the message "Synaptics Touchpad Enhancements has stopped working" everytime I switch my laptop on. I click the "close" button and can then log onto the Internet. I have tried doing a system restore but can't understand how to set up a manual restore point as this started happening about 2 weeks ago out of the blue. Any ideas?

Try installing or re-installing the latest drivers for the Synaptics Touchpad Enhancements. Go to Control Panel-->System-->Hardware-->Device Manager and look for Synaptics Touchpad and try and update the driver from there. Or you can try uninstalling the driver and then rebooting which should re-install the device and update it to the latest driver.

Thanks for your quick reply. I tried the first option but couldn't after Device Manager couldn't find anything like Synaptics Touchpad. The only place I can find this is on my computer and the C Directory. Sorry, but how do I uninstall the driver? I'm a bit of a novice of setup!

Pam53, Go back into Device Manager. Locate Mice and Other Pointing Devices. Click on the + sign to open the list. Locate Synaptics, right click on it and then left click on Properties. Click on the Drivers tab. Click on Update Driver. Click on Search automatically.....and follow the rest of the directions through.

Thanks, that's great. It's worked. I had to go to Dell Touchpad and then properties and then update driver.
