Many new systems were shipped with a Trial Version of MS Office and it had a limited time of use (I think 60 or 90 days).  If that is what you lost there is no way to recover that.  You will have to purchase whatever version of MS Office that you want.  The current version, "Home and Student Edition" is the least expensive.

If this was a full version of Office that you paid extra for (it will be noted on your invoice) then you can contact Dell for the CD.

As an alternative, there's a legitimate and completely  free OFFICE "clone", called OPEN OFFICE, available for download from SUN Microsystems.

The latest version, 2.2.1, offers bug/security fixes, and "enhanced Vista integration".

If you check any Wal-mart, you will probably see they offer the Academic Veriosn of Office for around $125, if not cheaper.  I know that the military Post Exchanges sell them for $50.
