Remove FastAccess Icon on Login Screen

Is there a way to remove the icon inviting me to configure FastAccess facial recognition on the login screen without uninstalling the software? I'm on Win 7. Maybe want to use in the future but in the meantime I don't want my wife accidentally clicking it. Thanks~ for any suggestions!

Hi Paul,

Good question. The answer is no. As long as FastAccess is installed, it's user "tile" will appear on the login screen. The good news is that there is no harm whatsoever in clicking it.

Given that it sounds like there are two of you using the laptop, I would definitely recommend trying FastAccess out. It could help automate and secure many different tasks (like switching user accounts) that two people who share a machine typically need to do. I say this from experience as I share 3 different computers with my own wife.  :-)

For more information, here is a good FAQ on the system.

I also want it removed from the windows login.  Is Fastaccess on the CD that came with my laptop or can I download it from Dell at a later time?

You may or may not have FastAccess on a backup installation CD - I couldn't say without looking at the CDs themselves - but you can always call Dell tech support to request that they send you one. If you're in the US or Canada you may also be eligible for a download from Dell SmartSource.

To remove the icon from the login window, you would need to de-install FastAccess entirely. If there's anything that I can do to help you get more out of FastAccess before you take that step, please let me know.
