Sounds like you have a dodgy add on for excel.
Disable add ons for excel.
Press and hold control whilst clicking on the shortcut to open excel. Now this should ask if you want to open excel in safe mode, click yes, and tell me if it still freezes.

Try deleting your temp folder contents.
Windows Key/R then type
%temp%
Click OK
Delete as many files as possible, skipping any in use. (Optional: in Control Panel, Internet Options, Delete your History and Files)
Is the copy/paste better?

The problem persists.

Does your Anti virus program have a check for Office? I think Norton has an Office check. This should be turned off.
Also, try uninstalling, then reinstalling, your printer.
