SLOW PERFORMANCE EXCEL WITH VISTA

I HAVE A VOSTRO 1400 WITH 2GB RAM AND INTEL CORE 2 DUO 1,6 GHZ AND VISTA HOME PREMIUM.

THE MAIN PROBLEM I HAVE IS WHILE TRYING TO WORK WITH EXCEL FILES. (I HAVE OFFICE 2003 INSTALLED). WHEN CUTTING AND PASTING A CELL, THE SYSTEM STARTS "THINKING" FOR A WHILE, AND I HAVE TO WAIT FOR EVERY MOVE I MAKE.  IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO WORK LIKE THIS, SO IF YOU HAVE ANY CLUES TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT.

NOTE: I HAVE ALSO TRIED WITH OFFICE 2000 AND OFFICE 2007 WITH THE SAME RESULTS. HAVE OLSO REINSTALLED OFFICE 2003 WITH SERVICE PACK 3.

Sounds like you have a dodgy add on for excel.

Disable add ons for excel.

Press and hold control whilst clicking on the shortcut to open excel. Now this should ask if you want to open excel in safe mode, click yes, and tell me if it still freezes.

I have done what you suggested, but the problem persists.

Try deleting your temp folder contents.

Windows Key/R then type

%temp%

Click OK

Delete as many files as possible, skipping any in use. (Optional: in Control Panel, Internet Options, Delete your History and Files)

Is the copy/paste better?

Allan, Windows defender is already disabled. Any other suggestion?  Thank you in advance for your interest.

Does your Anti virus program have a check for Office? I think Norton has an Office check. This should be turned off.

Also, try uninstalling, then reinstalling, your printer.
