Tables in Microsoft Word
I have a table in a document in MS Word 2002 that is giving me trouble.
It is a table with 6 columns in landscape format. Some of the columns have text and some have numbers.
I'm trying to align the text columns left and the number columns right.
Usually I don't have any trouble doing this. But with this particular table, whatever alignment I apply to one column automatically applies to all columns.
I've tried selecting a cell at a time and that works until I save the document and open it again and then all the columns are aligned either right or left.
I've tried copying and pasting the table into a new Word document but that doesn't help.
When I open a new Word document, create a table, put text and numbers in etc. the new table behaves correctly. I can select columns and align the contents left, middle, right - without affecting the other columns.
What's up with this particular table? Do I have to re-type everything into a new table?
Is there some formatting or are there some table properties I'm not seeing?
Please help.

Sounds like you have a corrupt table and copying it to another document is copying the corruption.
Have you tried converting the table to text (using the tables menu option) and copying this to another location in the same document (or a new document) and then converting the text into a table (using the tables menu option)?

Hi there.
Thanks much for replying to my posting. This week I installed Microsoft Office 2003 (XP). I did have a table problem in Word after the installation, but it was different from the one in the posting. In this one, I copied a table from one document and tried pasting it into another. The resulting table was completely different - different headings, different content - it was downright weird. Anyway, I closed everything and tried it again and it worked OK. Gremlins I guess.
