Trying to re-install Microsoft Office Basic Edition 2003 in replacement machine
Dell sent me a replacement XPS Gen 4. The replacement came with MS Works instead of MS Office 2003 that I had on the previous XPS Gen 4. Since I don't need or want MS Works, I sent it back with the old machine and tried to re-install MS Office 2003 on the replacement machine. I got a message that said activation was specific to the machine that I returned and MS cannot (will not) do anything about it. Dell software tech. (Monica) said she would send me the Office 2003 but needed to transfer me to Customer Support first. Eventually, I was disconnected and additional attempts to get a Dell tech. to follow through failed because I was put on hold and then then disconnected or given a recording asking for an order number (that I never got) . Meanwhile, the re-installation, as far it went deleted the MS Word (2002) that was on the replacement machine. So, now I have no word processor at all.
I need help either re-installing or obtaining from Dell a replacement copy of MS Office 2003 that will activate on this replacement machine I purchased with the orginal machine. Does anybody know how I can get MS Office 2003 replaced?
XPS Gen 4
Dual 160 GB Seagate 7200 drives in RAID0 Array (also not what I had before but it's what they sent me)
Windows XP Professional, etc.

Your best bet is probably email or chat, assuming that (1) you purchased your system through the Home and Home Office section and (2) that you are in the US. See this.

MS,
Have you had any luck resolving your issue? I am trying to install MS Office Small Business Edition that I purchased with my Dell 8100 (now out of commission) a couple of years ago onto the replacement XPS that I just received. Called MS and they referred back to Dell. Any direction would be appreciated.
Regards and a good new year.
