'Wait While Windows configures Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007'

Hi,

Everytime i open an office programme, windows installer starts and says 'Please wait while Windows Conifgures Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007' and gathers the info which takes 1-2 minutes. This happens everytime i open a new programme or a saved document.

Does anyone have any ideas how this can be resolved without having to re-install vista which it would seem has not been installed correctly at the factory.

Activating the trial version was a mistake and you should not have used your own key. Trial versions have their own keys. Your valid copy of Office was already activated at the factory. You might need to contact the MS activation desk. I'm not sure how to fix this, but MS should be able to help. Search your computer programs for another installation of Office.

Hi,

Yes everything is activated, and i bought  the software and just used the key to activate the trial verison. I have even tried de=installing the version that came on the laptop and re-installed with the disc, and still have the same problem.

Check Help in Word to see if Office is activated. Activate it if necessary using your office disk's activation key. Office is a separate software program and is not part of Vista, so don't reinstall vista.

One thing--if you don't have the office disk, you have a trial copy of office that has expired. If that's the case, buy office or uninstall it.

I tried so most ways. I have restored the computer back to its original factory settings, installed office with the disc, removed the trial version and instralled using the disc... i am at a loss to know what else to do??

If i was to re-install vista, is there a way of keeping all the applications that came with the laptop?

Sounds like software components shared by both Office versions have been removed during Setup?

Otherwise if it’s an activation issue & if not already seen

Try Method 3 Delete the Opa12.dat file as described in MS KB 919895

Or MS KB 927756 How to convert a trial version…to a full retail perpetual license version”

If still unresolved, then as already suggested – contact MS Support here

Edit: Not what you want hear but looks like a common problem

And even worse, recent feedback from one forum member indicates a Clean Install was only way to fix the issue, click here & scroll down
