Winword Error Message-closing documents in Microsoft Word 2000

Whenever I close a document in Microsoft Word 2000, an error message comes up saying: "Winword has caused an error in MSV.RCT. Winword will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try to restart your computer." This will only happen after I have been working in Microsoft Word for a period of 15 minutes or longer. Sometimes I will lose information that I have typed when this error message appears, and it is very frustrating. This Winword error message has been giving my computer problems for some time now. If anyone knows how to get rid of this message and can help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Hgott,

Assuming the error is in msvcrt.dll (since there is no such file as msv.rct) perhaps the information here will be helpful.

Thank you for the help, Denny Denham. I will try that. Do you happen to know if I will lose my documents saved on Microsoft Word 2000 if I reinstall Word from the Works Suite Add-in?

No, you will not lose documents.

Sorry for the delayed reply, but thanks for letting me know I won't lose any of my documents, rickmktg! I have a ton of documents saved on Microsoft Word, and while I have most of them saved on floppy disks, I don't have backups for all of them. I just wanted to make sure that there was no risk of losing any of them. I will definitely reinstall Word then and hopefully that will solve the problem.
