3200mp troubles / malfunctions . .

Recently I have been having lots of trouble with my 3200mp projector.  It all started when the projector would randomly cut off during use and the orange lamp light would come on, which normally would indicate a blown bulb, but the bulb wasnt blown.  After turning back on agian the projector would usually work fine.  This happened on an off for about a month, but wasnt that big of a deal.  Then weird stuff started happening.  The projectors display began to flicker... and this got worse and worse.  The colors began to change drastically and the projected image was flickering out of control.  I don't believe that any of this has anything to do with the bulb but I am not completely sure.  This lasted for a couple weeks, but as of right now the projector works perfectly fine again, and I did nothing to get it back to normal .. it just happened.  I came on here asking for help/advice as to what could have caused this, as I do not want it to happen again on fear of it becoming permanent.  I still have about half of my one year warranty left and want to make sure things are all cleared up by the time it ends.  If you know anything about this please let me know!  I was planning on sending it in for service, but I dont know what they can do if its working fine now... I just dont want it to happen again.

mdauber,

Welcome to the Dell Community Forum (DCF).
Just keep an eye on the projector and let me know if the issue arises again.

The problem just started up again.  I contacted technical support and described the problem (reference # 241H1M6E1YL4NN1N1S).  I really don't think there will be any quick fix to this problem, and hopefully I can send it in to get serviced or something.  This was too big of an investment for me if I was only able to use it for 6 months.

Hello,

I have myself a 3200MP projector. And I am also having the same problems you are.

I was wondering did Dell fix your problem.  They told me to change to light bulb too. I dont think its a light bulb issue either.

Thanks.

I am also having this issue.

My 3200MP is exactly 1 year old.  I have logged 779hr on the lamp, which according to the projector is half it's life.

The screen flickers for a bit and the LAMP light comes on.  What should I do?

What did you guys do?

Did changing the blub fix the problem?

I contacted dell customer support and they sent me a factory refurbished  projector to replace mine having the problems.  This made me very happy, however my only further concern is if this is such a common problem then what can be done to either prevent this or to fix this when my warranty runs out?  forking out all of that money for only one years use would be devastating.

I call dell and they replace mine. They ask no more  questions.

I hope it does not happen again.  Warranty will be running out soon.

Good luck.

All of you.

Hmmmph, I am now getting this problem,, I think warranty has just ran out as well.

My bulb said 1500 hours used so I did change it for a brand new one and it is still haveing the problem.

I did think it might be because of dust clogging up the vents from the cooling fan. It seems that might be a good explanation of this, as I run it from a shuttle computer, and the fan in there was clogged from a years use. However I put the hoover on the vents and got all visible dust out of it, but it didnt fix anything.

Has anyone had any progress on this problem?

Any ideas on what to look for if I get the courage to take the rest of the cover off of it?

cheers,

Lindsay.

I called dell and explained my problem.  Even though I was one month pass my warrenty, they gave exchanged my projector with a refurbish one.  I had to call twice though.  The first time I called the guy keep telling me it was the bulb problem.  He would not change his mind.  I only had 700 hour on the bulb(2000 normal use), he keep telling me sometimes the bulb fail and you will have to replace it.

"So everytime a bulb fail, i should go out and buy a 500 dollar bulb replace ment?"  THAT is LUDACRIS!  I kept explaining it to him and he wasnt having it.

Instead of calling again, I email customer support instead, they got back to me right away and started the refurbish process.

Somehow, I think it might be a flaw in the design.  I had it happen to me TWICE!  OR maybe i am using it incorrectly.  My projector is hanged from a cieling with good ventilation.  I use it to view dvds and play PS2.

Good luck.

Hmmm, I went onto the site details for the 3200MP projector then went onto support, which I guess automatically puts me thru to US support.

I've never seen anyone run away from a problem so quickly.

My reply was basically "Your in europe - We're not - it's not our problem"

Written to the UK support now last night so I guess wait and see how they respond to this.
I hope somebody takes responsibility..

Keep you posted,

DJLins.
