Dell 5100MP issues
We recently deployed a number of dell 5100MP projectors at our University, having been impressed by the quality of the image. In the last few days we have had issues with some of these units as follows;
The projectors are ceiling mpounted, linked to an AMX control system and worked well for a number of weeks after installation. We have now discovered that the projectors will not start from the control system, but do still work if you use the remote control to start them. We also discovered that pulling the power cord out of the projector and reseating seems to temporaily solve the issue and restore the connection with the control system.
Has anyone les come across this issue, and more importantly is there a solution for it.? We have a number of these projectors still in stock with a view to deploying them over the next month or so, but until we find a solution to this issue they'll be staying on the shelf or will be returned to Dell.

No problem. It looks like your contact details were removed though so you may need to try again.

Hi raymondh - I have a 5100mp which has recently gone down with "LAMP FAILURE" despite a working lamp (installed new replacement without effect). Was hoping a firmware upgrade may help - can you assist? I can't find anything elsewhere on the web.

The Lamp failure notice is something that comes up regularly on all of our 5100's. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there is a fix for it. Certainly, upgrading the firmware makes no difference (all of ours have been done and we still get the message).
The only fix I know of is to recycle power to the projector by pulling out the power cord. After it reboots itself it will be fine (until it does it again)
Hope this helps.

I am intermittently having the Lamp light come on with a brand new lamp. Also having problems with HDMI input going away but still reads out in display. Gary

Would some just post a link to upgrade the firmware instead of asking to "send me an email"

Sorry mate. As far as I know there isn't a link. I only managed to get a copy of the firmware by contacting Dell in Singapore. Unless someone knows different of course.

Just as an aside guys. I have a firmware upgrade which I'm happy to send on to anyone who needs it but I'm not sure how up to date it is. I got a copy of it form Dell a good few years ago now so it may have been superseded by another.

Hi Raymond,
I am experiencing this "stuck on" problem with only way to turn the projector of is to unplug the projector. Without the proper cool down by the fan I am sure this is affecting the lamp and shorting it's life. Could you send me the SW Firmware update and instructions how to update.
Thanks

Hi There.
Happy to send you the files but I will need to get your email address. I've tried uploading them to the forum but keep getting error messages!
Cheers

May not fix your problem but I've found that the ribbon cable that goes to the control panel causes a lot of problems for Dell projectors. Just repaired one with the SW Upgrade and temp and lamp lights solid, color wheel starts and lamp does not. Replaced the cable and unit works just fine.
