light leaks / light leaking above projected image
I have received the projector two days ago.
I finally got it hooked up and working projecting a movie from my laptop in 16:9. Looks rather nice, apart from one issue - which troubles me greatly: there seems to be a light "leakage" above the upper border of the projected image (right above the upper black stripe in a 16:9 image), and then about a foot above that leakage - there is another one on the right side only... The "light leaks" are in the form of a lit stripe projected on the wall above the projected image... I've tried fiddling with the position of the projector, gently tilting it as well as with the horizontal and vertical adjustments for the PC image I am projecting in projector's the menu, but to no avail... The thing is, before getting this 2200MP, I got one for my workplace, and brought it home over the weekend. That workplace 2200MP specimen, did not exhibit the same problem...
Situation is worsened when I zoom out... so it looks like a defect in the position of the lense or the lamp...
What do you think it is? do I need to get an RMA and get a new 2200MP? I really like the model :(
I've sent an e-mail to Dell support.
Thanks,
Noam

If so, I'd call Dell Support and tell them the problem -- they will replace it.

Thanks. They are indeed replacing it. It is defective, and that has nothing to do with the source (the leak is visible even when source is disconnected).
Weird replacement policy: instead of shipping a complete new unit, they are sending a new unit, but without the lamp, expecting me to replace and send back.... silly. If I buy something defective in Good Guys, or Circuit City or Costco - I just go there and replace the whole thing... as is. It should have been the same here.

This is getting weirder by the minute...
I got a new unit today (kudos on the 1 day shipping) - complete with lamp and all (contrary to the process described by the support guy).
But - alas - this unit is displaying the same type of light leak albeit in a somewhat different location and shape (still above the image).
I called support again, and they will replace this one too - and this time, they assured me to test my unit @ Dell before they ship it out to me.... what's going on? a defective 2200MP batch??
The first unit's service tag is DX29F41 and the second unit is B4QKC41...

AH! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with this issue. I bought a 4100MP when it first came out. I have that white line at the very top that comes on and off shifting my video down a pixel every time it shows up (really bad when it blinks on and off.) I noticed that on my XBOX that I can see some kind of ghost image of the game, so when I move it is really odd. Also have several other weird issues like the projector turning itself back on after it finishes shutting off, colors being inversed until I restart it, and many more. I tried testing it extensively myself before contacting Dell. Finally I determined there wasn't much else I could do and called them. They sent me a new one and I was saddened to see that much of the same problems still existed. I was just assuming that it was a problem with this model and lived with it. It is rather annoying and I've been wondering if I would be so quick to go with Dell the next time. But perhaps both units (just like yours) were defective after all? Have you gotten your new projector, is the problem fixed for you?
P.S. I also own a 3100MP projector and have had none of these issues with the same hardware hooked to it. It has worked flawlessly.
