M1-DA cable question

Are the M1-DA (M1-A) cables common among the various projector brands?

Specifically, will a Dell M1-DA to VGA/USB cable also work fine in an Infocus or HP projector which has the same type of M1-DA connector?

Are they all following some sort of VESA org standards for pin-outs or anything like that?
