r210 membist
Hi all, I bought a server dell r210 the 1st series with xeon x3430 processor
just arrived (it only had 1 bank of 2gb ram) I immediately proceeded to buy other banks of ram to form a total of 8gb (4 x 2gb)
while waiting having his twin brother in the house r410 that mounts the same type of ram I took the missing benches from the latter (so as to be sure that the benches were working)
as soon as I turned on the server I started to have problems with the ram reading (membist error on dimm a3 and a1) thus re-matching the reading to the only 2 banks left.
needless to say I tried to move banks etc to no avail, ditto with bios reset and its refresh.
however, starting operating systems such as windows server, however, he sees the 8 gb but says that it is possible to use only the 4 gb
advice?

Hello,
I've just replied to a post recently about the same error, just a different server model: https://dell.to/3x83lB7
You probably would check if there is any bent pins or hardware cosmetic damages as the previous user found.
My suggestion would be the same the previous post. Try just 1 memory in A1, and check if the error pops. If none, then update the iDRAC/LCC and BIOS. Then install another memory into A2 and check for any issues. Then moving on to install all A1 to A4. Just to make sure, the server supports the memory which you have: https://dell.to/2Sem9js page 27.
