Archive...Shortcut...Restore...Archive...Shortcut
We archive a mailbox, create shortcuts and restore it back. Again we archvie the same mailbox & create shortcuts: Can this lead to any problems with archiving/shortcutting?
This would be required in two scenarios: If shortcuts have been recovered but I want to shortcut mails again to reclaim space and if a user from one branch gets relocated to another branch.
Why I am cross checking this is because the first archive/shortcut was very smmoth but the successive attempts gave some errors.

Is it exchange or notes ?
while posting messages please try to add all the environment info, it would help rest of us to have a bit better picture. After restoring messages if something changes which will cause some properties of messages to be changed(may be the properties changed are considered in the message ID calculation) then to my understaning those messages will have to be re-archived before being re-shortcutted. The more details we have, the better we will have understaning.
Is it a test environment? You mentioned about recovery, what that recovery from backup software ?

Recovery I mentioned was using EX task to recover shortcuts.

As I mentioned earlier while posting issue if you can mention all environment info it does help. That info could be version of Exchange or Notes, Version of EX, is there a hotfix applied from EX, is there any OS specific hotfix etc. All this information usually helps to understand the issues better.
in this particular case Archive, shortcut, restore and shortcut should work unless something happened after shortcut that could change the properties of messages. I came accross an issue in past where design template was changes and domino admin ended up adding new fields to the messages, naturally that will change the original message and now message ID might not be the same.

If we take your example and due to change ind esign template, new fileds got added. I agree message would get change and so would the message ID. Even then, it would be a fresh Archive & Shortcut job. While recovering it should recover the last archive/shortcut.
