EmailXtender 4.8 SP1 Patch 564

Hi,

I installed EX 4.8 SP1 Patch 564. This is a fresh installation.

When I launch EmailXtender Admin, I get the error otgNotesApi.dll was not found. Try reinstalling the application.

When I reinstall, I noticed the notes option is disabled (that's ok, because I don't have notes client installed)

Again while launching the admin, I got the same error.

I see that file located at C:\Program Files\OTG\Common

Did anyone face this issue with this version?

Do I first need to install the 4.8 version, then need to upgrade to the latest?

Any tips to solve this issue?

:-) Yes that was misleading. No, in an Exchange installation, you don't need Notes (which you didn't select).

You are right, the file is in the c:\program files\Common files\OTG directory.
During the installation, the PATH variable is changed and includes this folder path (usually the first). Please verify!

Are all the services running?

Regards, Jochen.

Hi Suresh,

well, you need to have Lotus Notes installed before you can install EX.

Have a look in the ExInstallGuide.pdf in the folder Documentation. There is a section "Installing EmailXtender Server Components" and "Collecting required Information". There is a Caution:
Verify that the Lotus Notes install location is listed in the EmailXtender server¿s path system variable. Generally, the default install path is C:\Lotus\Notes.

As part of the installation process for Notes, you have to configure the Notes Client on the server, so the process runs through ok. You don't need to do that beforehand.

Best regards, Jochen.

Sorry, if my question misleaded.

I have only the exchange environment. Why do I need to install Lotus Notes?

I don't care if lotus notes features doesn't work.

But, currently, I'm unable to launch the emailxtender admin to configure with Microsoft Exchange.

Thank You !!

It helped. Even though it was added in front of the path, when I open a new command prompt & type path, I didn't see that.

Rebooted the machine & it worked fine.

I should have checked reboot first ;-)

None of this worked for me but what did work was copying all the files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\OTG to C:\Windows\System32 where they could be seen. Even though the path to OTG is written into the beginning of the Path Environment it just doesn’t seem to work.

I am not sure why this is occurring though this is an extremely old version of EmailXtender. You should update the server to the latest release which is 4.81.2518. This is much more stable than 4.81.655. The only caveat for upgrading to 4.81.2518 is that it wil copy all the volume information in the registry to SQL. This could take some time. Before you upgrade I would make sure that you have no volumes that are in a record pending, reindexing, reindex pending, or record failed status.

EmailXtender is coming EOL in March 2012. If you are considering staying with an EMC archiving solution, you should look at moving to SourceOne. It is much more scalable and a much better archiving solution. I hope this helps.

Thanks broy_ici. I should have mentioned that we are using 4.81.2518 and this was a problem for just one users laptop. One day it was working and then it just started coming up with that error. I tried absolutely everything including full uninstall and reinstall incl ripping out old registry pointers.

We do also use SourceOne for local archiving on our laptops and will probably incorporate this as a full solution sometime in the future.
