EmailXtender Migration to New Server Hardware

Does anyone have any tips of how to migrate EmailXtender to a new physical server?  We have a 4.81 server that no longer archives email, but is simply used for searching/ediscovery (SourceOne handles all new email).  The EX server hardware has had several recent failures so it's time to move it.

I called support and they said EMC did not have any official documentation on how to do this.....but told me to just install the same OS/EX versions on the new hardware and copy over all the data/ex registry settings to the same paths and everything should work.

Have any of you tried this?  Since our old EX box had been upgraded many times over the years.....I would feel more comfortable with doing a new install and letting it rebuild all the indexes from the .emx files if that will work.
