Is EmailXtender 4.80 backward compatible with exSearch version 4.70.477
I am upgrading the server from 4.70.564 to 4.80 (with Patch 266). Do I need to push a new EmailXtender Search client at the same time or will the old 4.70 client still work?
Also do I need to update the Exchange forms?

no, you don't need to deploy the EX Search Client right away. An older client can be used with a new server but not the other way around (a newer client with an older server version).
Please test the new client before deployment. - I have a 4.80.266 server deployment, where all users are running 4.70.636 because this version didn't resolve the To or From addresses (a new feature)... this made the Search Client freeze for 5 to 10 seconds.
I don't think you need to update the forms... Can't comment on the "nightmare issues"...
There is an EX 4.8 SP1 version expected any time soon. Why don't you wait for this as well?!
