Migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010
Hi,
I have exchange 2003 enviroment with EMC SourceOne archiving solution. All the current users are archived using EMC Sourceone 6.8.
i need to introduce a new exchange 2010 server and want to migrate all their mailboxes. Migration is between the same Exchange Org and not a cross forest migration.
my question:
- Should I need to build a new EMC Sourceone server for exchange 2010 ?
- Shoud i need to migrate the archives after mialbox is migrated to exchnage 2010 ?
- How will do perform teh arvchive migration ?
- Is there any tool for migration ?
- Is there an option ot export the archives to PST and then import
lastly can i just add the exchnage 2010 server as part of the Exchange 2003 archives and skip the migration steps ?
Kindly help.

1. No
2. No
There are specific permission you have to apply to Exchange 2010 for the Service Account.
If you are Journaling email on Exchange 2003, I would recommend creating a new Journaling account for 2010

Thanks Gary. Could you please share the articles and documents related to migration from EMC knowledge base site ?

Exchange 2003 and 2010 can coexist in the same environment and migration there is as easy once that is in place.
Refer to MIcrosoft's documentation on this configuration.
SourceOne doesn't care what server the mailbox is on in the same environment as long as it has the proper permissions.
Remember, SourceOne's connectivity is via the Outlook client on the S1 Server.
If Outlook can connect to the mailbox then your good to go.
