NO AD used

If a customer is not using AD and uses Lotus Domino, can we assign the required priveledges to an administrator account and use it as a Service Account for EX.

Hi Anuj,

Don't you guys have to validate your "solution" in a SVC (Solution Validation Check)? - We've had issues where EMC didn't approve the solution (hence it's not supported by EMC) and we had to void the contract to a customer in the past. - Therefore I'd assume that they'd tell you if EX without AD is at all an option?!

I thought AD is a requirement rather for the system (and SQL) than for accessing Domino servers.

Best regards, Jochen.

This case is at a pre-mature stage and customer (& me) are just exploring options.

Too early for SVC etc.

As per the current supportability, AD will be required.

This is because to my understanindg when EX DOCS are asking for Service account to be member of Domain Admin group. It is assuming that many right which are needed for EX to work properly will be already there. SQL is one of the exaples. From 4.81.SP1 you will see that EX by default might not try to use SQL accounts instead it would will use NT account while validating ODBC connections.

It's not that it could not be achieved by using local account, but its the case that is it supported(logically its can be done) and only SVC team can say so because they are usually aware of all the configuration issues which are going on or happened in past.
