SourceOne migration
Hello,
I haven't been able to get an answer from multiple EMC reps and SEs for this question--other than that it's not possible...
I have a SourceOne install hosted on a single Windows 2003 / MS SQL 2005 server. With Windows 2003 Server end-of-life coming, I have to migrate our archived e-mails over to a different server running Windows 2008 R2 / MS SQL 2008. (Additionally the move to MS SQL 2008 is required by the latest versions of SourceOne.)
I have to draft a project plan before I even touch the current installation. I can't find any documentation on the process at all. Anyone have any experience with this type of migration?

I have more experience with this than you will ever have the time to know.
What version of SourceOne are you on?
I assume v6.5 or 6.6 since you are still on Windows 2003.
This is a multi-phase multi-step upgrade to get to the current version on Windows 2008 & SQL2008.
I would recommend hiring a consultant that's done it before to take care of this for you.
You'll sleep better for at least a few nights
It's not difficult but a lot of gotchas if you haven't done it before and you could spend tons of down time trying to figure it out.

Greetings,
Upgrading steps from 6.6* to 6.8* is found in the release notes of the 6.8* versions.
Move of SQL databases if documented in the SourceOne Admin guides.
Upgrading from 6.8.* to 7.1.* can be found in the release notes of 7.1.* release notes.
If still unsure please engage EMC Professional services or an EMC partner.
I am not sure whom you would have talked to in EMC because these upgrades would have been done by many partners and EMC consultants.
PS: you will not be migrating, you will be upgrading.
Thanks,
Rajan
