8300 - SATA Raid - using Primary IDE?
Moving from a 8200 to an 8300. The new 8300 has the SATA Raid drive. Also has the Secondary IDE filled with CD drives. On the 8200, I have a 120G and a 200G on the Primary IDE. Can I use all or part of the Primary IDE controller on the motherboard even with the SATA Raid card operational? Or is the Primary IDE dead weight?

No problem adding the drive as a Primary, Master on your IDE channel. I did the same on my XPS that came with one SATA and two CD drives on the Secondary IDE channel. Make sure you use cable select for the drive jumber.
