8400 Clean Install

System Details: Dimension 8400, P4 3.4GHz, WDC WD400BD-75JMAO HDD

I want to wipe it out and put a clean installation of windows on it. I am using the WIN XP HE OS reinstallation CD that came with the system and it tells me that there is no CORRECTED: "CD-ROM DRIVE".  However it boots up just fine into windows and runs normally.  Also I did not get any resource disc with drivers on like I got with my 8200 - where do I get the drivers I need?

Dell no longer ships the "Utilities and Drivers" and "Applications" CDs with their computers, you will have to go to Dell's download site [Product Support at the top of this page], download and burn them to a CD.  If you want the computer manual, then click the icon on the desktop for it, need hard copy, then you'll have to print it yourself, it's only 148+- pages

You could also, phone Dell's Technical Support and request these CDs be shipped to you, be prepared for a waiting period.

Thank You all.  I called Dell Technical Support at 1-800-915-3355 and spoke with a technician who created a "Utilities and Drivers" CD specific to my 8400.  I am supposed to receive it in 3-5 business days along with an "Applications" CD.
