Adding hard drive
Hello.
I am about to add a hard drive. I have only had my computer about 2 months. It has a 40 gig Maxtor 7200 drive now. I am going to add about a 120 or higher drive. Should I stick to the same brand I have now? Does it matter which one I make the slave? Thanks.

No, you don't have install the same make, regards to which drive to make the Slave, if you install the new hard drive as the primary/master [ C : ] you will then have to reinstall the operating system and applications.

You might want to check out this.
$84 for a WD 120GB WD1200JB ATA 100 7200 RPM, 8MB Cache, 8.9 MS Access, 3 year warranty hard drive. Not too shabby.
Same response as Bev. in regards to your questions.

Not knowing which Dimension you have, the slave and master may not be an issue - for example with the dimension 8300's those use the newer EIDE cabling with cable select, not the traditional IDE cable. You might also depending again on which model you have, determines your choices- choose an SATA (ATA) HDD, or you might just put one HDD on the primary IDE channel and your other HDD on the secondary IDE channel. And they can both be masters or if you are using cable select, then the S and M not the issue.
Perhaps a bit more info and peeps here can offer you more concrete usable information.
