Adding Old Hard Drive
I have a Dimension 5150 with a 160GB hard drive. I want to fit a Second 80GB hard drive that was fitted to my old 4100. It was used as a spare drive in this machine and only contained files and NO operating system. I notice that the power connections are different. Can I get an adaptor cable? and will this drive work as I expect if I just plug it in? Thanks

Mount the drive in a 5.25" frame and connect it to the optical drive's cable (this will work only if you have a single optical drive).
Buy an EIDE controller card.
Buy an EIDE to SATA card.
Considering that you can now buy 80G drives for as little as $30 after rebates, I wouldn't bother with the existing drive if it means paying almost that for a controller card or 2/3 of that for a converter. Just mount the drive in place of the CD/DVD(s), copy what you need, remove the drive and be done with it.
