Audio CD is not recognized (iTunes)
Hi,
Recently a friend of mine was trying to overcome a problem trying to play my new Sting CD "Sacred Love." The CD would not play on my Dell Inspiron 5100 (althought it plays fine on other computers). The CD drive just kept "spinning" for a few minutes, then it stopped and nothing happened.
Anyway, I digress. I wanted to make mp3 files of the songs on the Sting CD and I just made them on another computer.
However, in the process of trying to make this particular CD play, I believe this friend of mine deleted or unistalled the little program that comes up when you put an audio CD in the drive. It asks (or used to) which program you would like to use to play the audio CD, and then it listed choices. This no longer happens when I insert audio CDs. Granted, I can still play audio CDs if I manually open Windows Media player and make the computer recognize the CD (but this is cumbersome).
What I can't do now is get the CD to be recognized by iTunes. And therefore I can not add my new CDs to my iPod!
Any recommendations on how to reinstall / turn back "on" the audio CD detector program? Any thoughts are very appreciated!

To get autorun back install tweakui http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp open up tweakui select 'My Computer' > Autoplay > Types and tick the 'Enable autoplay for CD' and reboot.
As for why iTunes won't recognise the Sting CD, check to see if it's one of those copy protected cd's? or use a different program to rip the CD, EAC (Exact Audio Copy) http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/ is a good one, it's free too, if the CD turns out to be a copy protected one this utility can get around it.
