Bad Blocks on Int. HD

Question

Hello All-I attempted to resize my C partition via Acronis Disk Director 10.0. I completed my objective by adding the new space to partion G(a backup primary partition). I then cliked on the Commit option to perform the task. After rebooting, I received the message that the task was terminated because bad blocks were detected on the C drive. My questions are the following: 1. Should the Hard drive be replaced because of bad blocks? 2.Is it possible to correct this problem? 3.Should I stop backing up data from this partition because of possible corrupted data? 4. Is it safe to clone this drive to a new drive or clone my ext drive?   Dimension 8100,P4 2.6 GHZ Processor,512 MB RDRAM PC800,XP Home SP2,HP 7400 Officejet,Dell programmable keyboard,Acronis True Image 9.0 &Disk Director 10.0,WD 80 GB EIDE HD.

2. Maybe temporarily, but not permanently; it's not worth the risk.

3. No, you should keep backups.

4. You can tell ATI to ignore the bad blocks, but the resulting clone may not be bootable, depending on where the bad sectors are.

Hello enj63-Thanks for the information. I will replace my HD as soon as possible. I need more information on your answer to question 3. I am asking is it safe to continue updating C partition backups? Does bad blocks make this exercise too risky?  Also,is it a good idea to clone my present C partition to the new drive. Thanks very much.

If you're seeing errors in the imaging, the reliability of the image is suspect - keep one of the images you had before the problems started.

It may or may not be possible to clone, depending on where the damage is, and on how bad the damage is.
