Can I have 2 IDE controllers ?
Might there be hardware or software problems on my XPST500 if I put two Promise Ultra 133 hard drive controllers on my motherboard, in order to control up to 6 bootable primary partitions ?
Wd much ‘preciate info.

(NOTE: I would be hooking just one hard drive to the IDE port of each of the controllers, setting the HD as a master, so that either drive could serve as a boot drive, which would give me six different boot partitions, if the beastie works like I want it to. The reason I want to be able to boot from so many different partitions is so as to be able to use various different software configurations and use BootMagic or System Commander to hide five of the partitions so that only one is the active boot partition.)

Not sure of 3 HD controllers but have heard of people using 2. What I used to use was removeable disk enclosesures. A std IDE drive mounted in a 5.25 encloser that could be removed on power down. Worked fairly well. Latetly I been using Virtual PC to have serveral PC hosted from the Host PC. I have a version of Windows 2000, Windows XP, Linux and Dos all bootable from my XP machine hosting the virtual PC's. For the Virutal PC to work well it would best to have a farily large amount on the Host computer. I bought my XPS with 2GB so it seems to work fairly well. Kind of neat when I done working with enviroment all I have to do is delete the virtual PC to reclaim the disk space.
