CD not ejecting burned cd/rws only

I have 1 cd/rw  that I use for backup, I copy files to it all the time then want to remove it for safe storage.

I can never eject it from the drive either with the button or with "right click" and choosing eject.

I use the paperclip to remove that 1 cd.

When the drive is empty or there is any other type of cd/dvd in the drive, it ejects when prompted.

Am I missing part of a program? I forgot what application actually runs the cd/rw controls.

Maybe the driver needs to be loaded again or updated. If anyone knows  what program I'm using and a possible fix please send it on.

Thanks,

Ray H

I had the same problem.  The Drive ended up being defective and Dell replaced it.

Hi Ray,

Most Packet Writing Programs, example Direct CD, require you to eject the disc through the program. Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 6-0, article 15, a small amount of data needs to be written before ejecting.

Best Regards

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.

Jeff,

Thank you for your response, your suggestions were right on the money.

It seems that my teenage tech wiz started with selective start-up to help with some of his applications and shut off "Direct CD"

I turned it back on and my cd/rw ejects when commanded.

Best regards
