CD-RW will not open tray
My system is Dimension 4700 with DVD and CD-RW. After pressing the eject button on the CD-RW I get a blinking green light (maybe 10 flashes or so) and the drive tray fails to open. The system is brand new and stock. Running WinXP-pro. Any help would be appreciated. regards MIKE

Hi Mike,
It may be slightly jammed or a possible driver issue.
Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 6-5, article 14; Use of the Emergency Eject button. Then run the steps in Section 15, article 1 to cover the driver conflict.

IF you're referring to a Roxio Direct CD formatted disk (CD or DVD) then you need to either:
Configure your system to run Direct CD at start up,
or...
Select the Roxio Direct CD Format Utility which is found in the Roxio Program Group on your Start Menu (note you may need to select it twice in order to open the utility - a possible bug).
Once the utility is open just click on the large button that reads: "EJECT"... and voila.
Direct CD treats your disk like a hard drive.

Dareme,
Are you in the correct thread, neither Jim nor Michael have a laptop and Michael posted Dell is replacing his drive.
Not heard back from Jim yet in this thread or his first post.
Best Regards

Hi Dareme,
I can understand the work thing, first I thought maybe I had missed something, at times I get ahead of myself.
Anyway, best wishes for the Holidays to you as well!!
