CD/DVD Doesn't Eject - Recorder is Busy

I have a XPS Gen 3 w/ HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE8483B and a Philips DVD+RW DVD 8601.  When I upgraded to Roxio 9 and recorded anything on a cd or DVD the cd or dvd won't eject saying recorder is busy.  The only way I can get the cd/dvd out is to shut off the computer.  I even deleted Roxio 9 and put Roxio 7 back on which previously didn't have a problem but now it does the same thing as Roxio 9.   I went onto Roxio's message board and their typical response is this kind of problem is a hardware issue.  I know many other people are having this problem and no solution has been posted yet.  Has there been talk of this on this forum and has any solutions been suggested?

Depends on the version of Roxio. On the one I've got : Open the Creator home page, click on Tools \ Eject/Close Drive Tray \ .

You might also have an icon in the System Tray down by the clock for Direct CD/Direct to Disc - if so, right click and choose Eject.

On the current version of Creator, if you open up the Creator Home control panel, click on Data on the left hand side to expand the list of options, you should have one called Direct To Disc. Click on this and you can enable/disable it.
