CDRom/DVD Drive Stops Working

I was burning stuff using Nero Express, and when I get back to my laptop, I restarted my laptop and BAM! Nothings gets read by my drive anymore. I put in any disc, the light of the drive will flash for like one sec, then it will stop flashing and no more spinning would be done inside the drive. It's almost as if it's treaty there is no disc inserted at all. Is my laptop not detecting any disc anymore? Is it over? Is there any way to fix that??

Oh, I beg your pardon. Not ANY disc, only burned disc are not recognized now. All the "original disc" such as a program disc I got from my labeling program works. My drive still detects stuff, just not my burned discs. Not CDR, not CDRW!!

Oh yeah, also as a result of not being to read any CDR and CDRW, now my drive basically can't burn as well. I am totally stomped. I cannot read any burned CD, and I cannot free up my laptop space by burning them onto anything. ANY help would be appreciated!!!

None of the advices helped... It's the logical procedures they sent you though... I mean, they are helping me over the internet... So they want us to try eveyrthing first, so not to waste any resources.

I have same problem ....

Just got new Inspiron 8600 ... you put in a CD it runs fine, take it out, put in another CD and system freezes. Followed by d: dissapearing. You reboot the system or take out the battery and drive comes back. But you only get the one time use.

This is stupid.

SOMEONE HAVE A FIX ???
