CDRW does not detect blank cds

Question

Let me start off by saying that i have reinstalled windows (formatting my harddrive)

My Problem:
I drag and drop mp3s to the cdrw drive and when i click burn it tells me there is no blank disk in the drive.

on dell online i can not find my models drivers.
my cdrw worked before reinstalling windows.

my model is TSSTcorp CD-RW TS-H292B

Hi Clasby,After reinstalling Windows, do you recall installing the Intel Chipset drivers next? and now after i install the chipset it tells me that it is a cd rom in stead of a cd rw and i know for a fact it is cdrw. any help here?

It says it is a CD ROM when there is a disc in it or when there is no disc?
Or does it say it is a CD-ROM all the time. It should say CDRW drive when
empty. In My Computer, it will change depending on the inserted disc.

The bottom line is, does it burn CDR discs?

That is a normal error.  It is telling you that it is not accessable becauseit is blank disc.  To read a blank disc is an incorrect function of the drive.

ok i just instaled the intel chip drivers, and restarted, and now when i click on the cdrw drive with a blank cd in it it gives me this error. http://img342.imageshack.us/my.php?image=error5jd.png

i am thinking about openin up my pc and lookin on the label of the cdrw to see if it is the tsst brand i think that is soe generic brand maybe?

no i an tryin to open as a folder so i can drag and drop and then burn a disk. but it is not workin

What kind of disc are you trying to open.  A commercial disc?  A previouslyburned disk?  A data disc?  How was the disc created?  What burning softwareis on your system?

Are you trying to open a blank disc?

The driver is part of Windows. There is only one all drives use.
You must mean Firmware. As of yet none has been issured for that
drive.

TSST is a new drive (Toshiba and Samsung venture). Likely made in
China. Also look in the Device Manager.

well i think it is broken. dell wont give me a new one. can any one reccomend a decent cdrw that is 48x, and is a well known brand?
