Computer is running very slow

I would appreciate anyone's help my computer is running super slow. I used Hijack this to clean some of the spyware along with Spybot but still seems to run slow. I can see my ram drop out of nowhere I have 512 ram and always running around 100 or so without any programs running other then being on the internet.

Thanks
Dave

  1. Goto Start
  2. Click run
  3. Type msconfig
  4. click ok
  5. click startup
  6. uncheck apps you don't need to start
  7. These apps will be in your system tray by your clock, they are the ones to look at.

If you haven't already, defragment your hard drive and scan it using Ad-Aware from Lavasoft.

I'm unable to download the adware from lavasoft. Have any other suggestions? I used spybot along with hi-jack this and was able to remove the wintools problems. However the computer is still slow and ocassional freeze ups.

Thanks

Dave

Sounds like it may be time for an OS re-install.

How would you go about performing a OS reinstall. I really don't have a deep computer knowledge. Sorry
