Dell E4310 SSD Upgrade Question
Hello Community
Newbie :emotion-43: about SSD here, was hoping to replace my main HDD with an SSD drive (NOT ADDING a 2nd drive). Could someone answer a few of these questions? Greatly appreciated :emotion-21:
Does it use SSD SATA I, II or III (want to make sure I purchase the right one before forking out an arm and a leg) :emotion-47:
Will I need a special caddy for the main drive if I currently have HDD or will any 2.5 drive work?
Will using an SSD reduce the heat of the notorious E4310 heating issue? :emotion-12:
any recommendation on which BRAND SSD to get ? I read alot of dead drives within 3 months, (wont name names here :emotion-16:) crossing my fingers I wont be one of them
Again THANKS IN ADVANCE !!:emotion-21:

1) Does it use SSD SATA I, II or III (want to make sure I purchase the right one before forking out an arm and a leg) :emotion-47:
Your laptop should be sata2 but you can also use a sata 3 ssd as the standard is backward compatible.
2) Will I need a special caddy for the main drive if I currently have HDD or will any 2.5 drive work?
Any 2.5" sata drive will work. Just swap drives using the original caddy.
3) Will using an SSD reduce the heat of the notorious E4310 heating issue? :emotion-12:
The ssd will eminate less heat than your present hdd.
4) any recommendation on which BRAND SSD to get ? I read alot of dead drives within 3 months, (wont name names here :emotion-16:) crossing my fingers I wont be one of them.
This is an exciting time for ssds as the latest versions are just about to come on the market. I like crucial and intel.

can you confirm which Sata connector will work? I II or III?
I also think Intel will be my choice :emotion-2:

The sata connector is the same for 1, 2 and 3.
