Dell Inspirion 7506 2in1 Crashes Frequently / Blue Screen of Death

Hello!

Please point me to the right direction or help resolve the issue with my new Inspirion 7506 2in1 laptop, that's crashing frequently giving the Blue Screen of Death error.

Conditions that most frequently resulted in such a crash:

- Sleep mode or Hibernation mode (both) - when I open the laptop in the morning I often see that it had crashed overnight or it crashes momentarily upon going live from sleep or hibernation (I tried both modes - recently changed the default behavior upon closing the lid to hibernate )

- When skype screen share is activated or skype video call is initiated

- Zoom meeting in progress

- Browsing through websites

- Working with documents in MS word

- Launching Photoshop

There's probably no pattern to it .. it just crashes randomly

Whenever it crashes it asks to run a scan (that's 39 minutes long). I ran the scan multiple times and it never found any hardware problems. Today I tried using the SupportAssist to scan specific parts of the laptop (vs run a general scan for the entire thing ) and it showed a WARNING for one of the parts. This part:

There's no explanation or details about that warning anywhere in the Support Assist tool. All the other parts show the "Passed" status.

- I called Dell and they say that my problem is not hardware related and that I need to schedule a call with the software team, for which i have to pay $99 (!!!???) Why I'm required to pay for troubleshooting the faulty software that came pre-installed with the laptop is a mystery to me..

The laptop crashed like that from day one of the purchase - I didn't have a chance to return it to the store (BestBuy) within the first 2 weeks + I thought that updating the drivers would fix it (since there were no problems with the hardware according to the tests) but it didn't fix it - with all the critical drivers being up-to-date it still crashes all the time.

Please let me know what I can do in this situation? Can I return/exchange the laptop with Dell? I bought it at BestBuy (didn't buy protection or anything.. )

Interesting. Bought two from Best Buy, The first had same issue, I returned it for an exchange. The second, now using, has the same issue. Flickering screen and frequent blue screen restarts. I'm trying to diagnose. Ran Dells SA check came up with bug check code 0x00000119 with a bunch of parameters pertaining to directx graphics mms. The scan "scan hardware" took 40 minutes. Everything else pasted.

Microsoft code error check says this:

  • This Stop error indicates a VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR issue. Where to go from here? Still researching.

It's driven me so mad that I've had to buy another G5 SE 5505 Ryzen gaming one (which I was trying to replace with something more professional looking) which is a lot more powerful, doesn't crash and the trackpad works incredibly well on! Not sure how to sell the 7506 now though with these silly trackpad and crashing issues! No logic to it as this 5505 is a much cheaper laptop, yet has a far superior trackpad and seems a lot more stable!

Me too I use an Inspiron 7506 with xe not MAX(silver) and have BSODs with video_tdr_failure

My inspiron 14 17400 dies when I wake it from second hibernation in row. This was solved by disabling one of two Dell Data Vault Control Devices in device manager.

But I still have problems with blue screens of death (especially when alt-tabing).

(Sorry for private reply, I am new to this forum.)

I have been with technical support for several hours, they have run countless tests and they have not solved my problem. In the end, they are asking me to pay for solving an issue that was obviously there from the beginning because I have not been able to use my laptop.

Have windows 11 installed on my Inspiron 7506 2-n-1. Worked fine at first. Suddenly I'm getting a BSOD randomly every 15 to 60 minutes. Impossible to work. Completely all system updates, changed the intel drivers, uninstalled my antivirus, done a drive scan for virus and disk errors. Nothing helps. I really don't want to have to reinstall windows but this is crazy. Brand new computer. Only a few months old. I've never had this many problems with any computer I've owned before.

I found the culprit. After a week of random BSOD ever 15 to 60 minutes. Crashing while trying to write in WORD, PowerPoint, while browsing the internet, and in the middle of ZOOM meetings (in which I was the host). I tried everything. I scanned the disk errors and viruses. Changed my power settings. I updated all my drivers and the bios from the dell support site. I removed my anti-virus and updated Windows. Stopped using Microsoft Edge, and tried other browsers. I spent hours trying to fix it but nothing helped until I uninstalled all the DELL support software. Then everything started working. I haven't had a BSOD in 24 hours. It's wonderful. The culprit. DELL support software! So if you're having problems, save yourself a world of pain and start with DELL. I left DELL Cinema Color installed, DELL Support Assist OS Recovery, DELL  Update and DELL update universal. But get rid of everything else. Don't forget to uninstall the DELL Service Support Assist. It's not listed under DELL but simply as Support Assist. Dell needs to take a look at their software on Windows 11.

It seems that Windows Update keeps installing older Intel graphics drivers so I have to replace them using Intel's Driver & Support Assistant. So long as I have the latest Intel drivers, my laptop seems stable. I have to say that this is the worst Dell laptop I have ever used and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I'm still having issues with the laptop I bought a few months ago. I took it to check by Geek Squad and I still have the same problem. End of the story, I spent over a thousand dollars in a laptop that I can't use.
