Dell Update Manager
The Dell Support box keeps poping up reminding me to download new firmware for my DVD drive. The download page shows:
Release Title: Removable Storage: HLDS GRA-4120B HH 12X DVD+RW, Firmware, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Multi Language, Multi System, v.G114, A05
Release Date: 09/07/2005
Description: Windows Based Firmware Flash Utility update for HLDS GRA-4120B HH 12X DVD+RW Drive
But, I don't think I have the device this update applies to. Windows Device Manager show that my CD and DVD devices are:
NEC DVD +-RW ND-3450A and
Samsung CD -R/RW SW2525.
Why does Dell continue to remind me of this update and am I correct to just ignore it?
Thanks,
WS

Hi Wayne,
The Moderators do try to cover as much of the forum as possible but to answer your question, I have also dropped them a note on this issue, which is happening with a few different firmware updates.
Best Regards

Hi Wayne,
What concerns me, although it is lucky the system simply refused to recognize the drive, but many trying to use it because of the Dell alerts.
I had one young lady in an e-mail from the CD/RW site tell me she was going to take the system to a local PC shop to get this installed because she "had" to have it according to Dell !!
I sent a message a couple weeks ago on this, will send another update and reference your thread, thanks.
Take care,
