diskette drive 0 seek failure

i have a dell dimension 2400

this morning when i went to turn my computer on i got a message saying diskette drive 0 seek failure. disk error press any key to restart.

i followed previous posts and got rid of the diskette drive 0 seek failure message by turning off the diskette drive through the f2 menu.

but once that message was gone, the disk error press any key to restart still showed up whenever i turned on my computer. does anyone know how to fix this?

Possibly the battery has died on the motherboard and you have lost your CMOS settings. You could try checking/replacing the battery and then resetting to the default values.

Of course, you would then need to set any of them back to the non-default settings that you want.
