Does Dimension 4700 support "Intel Matrix Storage Technology"?

Intel has a technology called "Intel Matrix Storage Technology" which is supported on "selected" systems that use the 915g chipset, which the 4700 does. The "Matrix Storage Technology" makes it possible to connect two SATA drives to create a RAID 0 or 1 array.  It even supports a combination of both on the same pair of drives, so where you need redundancy (e.g. financial records) it can store as RAID 1, and where you need performance it can store as RAID 0.

But the intel site says that not all platform mfrs support it; check with the mfr for details.  Does anyone know if the Dimension 4700 supports this technology?  Thanks.

David94114,

Thank you for visiting the Dell Community Forum.

Dell does not off RAID support for this system. The new Dimension 8400 and Dimension XPS systems do offer RAID support and while we do not offer or provide support for Matrix RAID configurations, the hardware does support it.
